about

It's... happy! The word here was "hope." Our hero is on a new quest, off to save the King, building his team, gathering up his weapons... the quest has begun. This theme took a couple tries to get right. The winning variation features a bright combination of trumpet and harpsichord, some subtle harmonics, and lively movement with an upbeat tempo. This theme is also a little bit longer than some of the others, considering the likelihood that new players may be spending a bit of time on this part of the game.

If there's a subtle influence on this one, it would be the classic NES game Rygar. The first few stages of that game had a big, epic, happy feel in the music, despite the fighting and monsters. Even some of the 16th note moving line motifs were influenced by the soundtrack there. So, while no one else may notice the nod whatsoever, it still makes me smile. :)
