Yes, it's obvious what the inspiration material was here. I deliberately modeled the very beginning of the baseline off of a classic Final Fantasy battle theme. Of course, then I took it in a whole different direction and had a blast making it.

I will admit that orchestrating it from the chiptune concept was a challenge. It had to feel "big" in my opinion, which meant lots and lots of layers. So, in addition to the orchestral strings and brass, we have some powerful low piano, various synths, Chinese gongs, some Native American accents... and that Alexander Brandon tracker snare makes a return as well.
